This week I have
found it particularly interesting because it provided us with different kind of
tools such as sites for building up exercises, tasks, tests and the like. I
always appreciate a tool that helps me to reduce my effort on building up my
plan for the week. Once you get to know the tool it is easy to work on as it is
manual and handy and easy to construct.
I particularly
liked Anvil and was thrilled at the fact that I could record my students’
voices or can picture a short dialogue for others to watch or listen to. I feel
my students would like the idea of working with this. I feel they will be
delighted as they like to be seen on the screen or heard on the net. It adds
spoken language to discussion and you can practice pronunciation. Besides it
encourages multimedia communication. It is a form of oral language that is been
introduced and with that students and teachers can profit out of it.
But the project took me most of the time as I had to read it and re-read
it in order to hand it in. I also read Mustafa’s work and found it interesting,
appealing to the students’ interests and motivating. Then I had to check and write about the
project. I liked the idea and got some interesting ideas for my job at school.
One always profits from somebody else’s job. I hope I can read all the others
but it is a busy week and will have to postpone it for later time.

ReplyDeleteI totally share your point of view when you say: "Students like to be seen on the screen or heard on the Net." It's something I noticed when I used to exchange with my students on the Net- with skype- in order to polish their pronunciations. In fact, since students like being heard on the Net or being seen on screen, the use of Anvil can be a real source of motivation for them in the sense that it may create a kind of "friendly competition" among the students of the same class, with each learner trying to have the best audio as far as the subject matter of the day is concerned.
It's also important to mention that those of the students who are passive students, for instance, with time, can become active learners through the use of Anvil.

I hope so too. I think that shy students could profit from Anvil and we can get more participation in our classes out of this tool-

ReplyDeleteWe are extremely lucky learning with one another. We should turn the corner our teaching skills with help of teamwork, critical thinking, communication, decision-making and so on. These techniques can make us to become a good instructor and educator. In this we have gone through “Online tools” mean we created exercises, sites, etc. These are considered the ways of active teaching and learning. If we go after these useful styles of teaching in our teaching, so then our students will be able to get through in each aspect of lifetime. I really appreciate your great work in this course. ReplyDeleteI use both the audio only, and the video off of Anvill. It depends on what we are doing or what my purpose is. If I want to build community I use video. If I am giving feedback on pronunciation I use video so I can see the lips. Sometimes I use audio only as it usually runs faster off the net.
